George & Gina Fox are the proud parents of Phoenix and the founders of the Phoenix Fox Foundation. In 2003, at the age of six months Phoenix was diagnosed with a rare form of muscular dystrophy called Pompe disease. Pompe disease affects organs and tissues, especially muscles, and severely impairs their ability to function normally. George, Gina & Phoenix packed up and moved from their home in Islamorada, Florida to Gainesville so that Phoenix could receive the lifesaving benefits of U.F. physicians and scientists. Research done right here in our community directly impacted Phoenix by greatly improving his odds and his quality of life.
